Question and answer with Laura Novak:
What is your favorite part about being a PT?
My favorite part is getting to know my patient, and being able to create and execute a plan to help them reach their goals. We celebrate their success together, and it makes me so happy!
Tell us about your athletic journey?
I began gymnastics at the young age of three, fell in love with it. I competed gymnastics through my senior year in high school. When I arrived at University of Michigan, I was introduced to some of the cheerleaders and ended up making the team! We traveled to nationals in Florida and achieved a 3rd place result!
How do you spend your weekends?
My husband and I love to try new restaurants for date night! I also have a 9 year old in travel baseball and a 7 year old in competitive gymnastics, so our weekends are filled with family time and also lots of sports! I love seeing my children doing what they love to do, and love seeing them get excited about their progress! It is so exciting to watch them on their sports journey.
What is your favorite TV show?
I do not have the tv on in my house…pretty much ever! I will catch the weather after the kids go to bed
What attributes do you have that have helped you be a physical therapist?
I am a good listener, and feel that I make my patients feel heard. We set goals they want to achieve, and I’m meticulous in providing care to reach their goals.
What do you hope your patients take with them upon completing their plan physical therapy?
I hope that they feel empowered to maximize their function. I always give my patients a discharge pamphlet, so they can keep up on what is most important.
