Can I see any occupational therapist I want?
You have the right to choose an occupational therapy clinic for your care under the law known as “The Patient’s Bill of Rights.”
Although many physicians may recommend an occupational therapist, you are not required to visit that clinic. No medical practitioner, insurance company, or other entity has the authority to require you to see a specific occupational therapist or attend a specific therapy clinic. The decision is entirely yours!
A doctor’s referral is sometimes required by your insurer. Depending on your insurance, you could see anyone in the network.
