How long will my child’s speech therapy appointments last?
It is critical to remember that all children develop at different rates. What one child finds normal during speech therapy may not be the same for another.
- Your child’s time in speech therapy will be evaluated based on his or her progress in the following areas:
- They improved their communication skills with their therapist, family members, peers, or teachers.
- How at ease they are speaking and listening to others
- How well they understand the speech exercises and concepts that are being taught to them.
Some children attend speech therapy for a few months, others for a few years, and still others throughout their childhood.
Your Maximum Rehabilitation Services therapist will work with parents, educators, and physicians to decide how long your child should stay in speech therapy.
