Incontinence

If you are suffering from involuntary urine leakage, you are not alone. Many adults  suffer from some form of incontinence, but most believe that they just have to "live  with it". Many are ashamed and embarrassed to discuss the problem with their  physician. Please be informed that incontinence is a prevalent, but treatable  condition.

Physical therapy for incontinence at Maximum Rehabilitation involves strengthening  the pelvic muscles through an individual treatment program. This may include  biofeedback and electrical stimulation to help strengthen the pelvic muscles that  support the bladder, vagina, and rectum.

If you are interested in exploring physical therapy for incontinence, contact your  physician for a PT referral. Self referrals are welcome, but the support of a  physician is optimal and may be necessary to assure reimbursement of services.

The average treatment lasts 6-9 visits over a four month period. Significant results  are usually obtained within eight weeks.
